Dickson Aquatic Centre has confirmed the opening date will be Saturday 31 October 2020.
Squads will begin on:
First Sunday: 9.15am, Sunday 1 November
First Friday night PBs: 6 - 6.45pm, Friday 6 November
In collaboration with the Dickson Aquatic Centre, we've agreed that the Swim Club will move back to being more of a non-competitive squads focus, rather than a 'learn to swim' club.
We will not have access to the middle pool this year (largely due to COVID restrictions).
Friday night Personal Best sessions will continue as we have in the past. The Sunday morning sessions will start with warm ups on the grass at 9.15, and will look like this:
Lane 1 shallow end:
- kids will need to be able to swim 20m recognisable freestyle and 20m recognisable backstroke
Lane 1 deep end:
- kids will need to be able to swim 30m recognisable freestyle and 30m recognisable backstroke
Lane 2 squad:
- kids will need to be able to swim 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 25m breastroke, and will be swimming multiple laps.
Lane 3 squad:
- kids will need to be able to swim 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 50m breastroke, and will be swimming multiple laps.
The coaches will determine where your child will best fit in. Please remember, the coaches and the committee are all volunteers. We'll do our best to get things as right and as fair as we can.
We'll circulate registration details in the next week or two. So please keep an eye out.
Vacant positions
As kids grow up and move on from Swim Club, positions become vacant and we need others to step into the roles. None of these roles are particularly scary or onerous, and there will be people around to show you the ropes. And as far as volunteering goes, spending time at the pool has to be one of the better roles!
We have the following three three vacant positions, and would really like to fill them before the season gets underway:
President
Treasurer
Friday night time keeper
If you think you can help out with any of these roles, please send an email to dicksonswimclub@gmail.com or phone Sean (0419 443 453) about the President's role or Jo (0418 626 017) about the Treasurer's role. Sean and/or Jo could also give you a run down on the Timekeeper position too. Remember Dickson Swim Club is a community club, run entirely by volunteers, and we need to share the load around to keep the Club going.
